“One of the most impressive of this year, the album amply rewards repeated listening. Beautifully produced and thoughtfully put together, it’s a tribute to Janette Mason’s distinguished musical career. Long may she continue to put out music of this quality, with this variety.:

ReWired” represents a substantial triumph for Janette Mason as she breathes new jazz life into this well chosen selection of tunes. Her arrangements are intelligent, imaginative and sophisticated and in a particularly well calibrated trio she has two outstanding collaborators capable of doing justice to her ideas. In the hands of the trio all of these tunes, even the best known ones, sound fresh and exciting. Ian Mann

Janette Mason has a storied career playing for multiple artists across the worlds of jazz and pop. As a session player she’s toured with some of the biggest pop names in the business, and as a bandleader she’s released a series of acclaimed jazz albums featuring some of the UK’s most respected players.

For her upcoming release, ReWired, (release date April 25 th 2025) she’s selected a basket full of all the tunes that mean the most to her, from timeless standards to modern chart classics, and reworked each of them with her long-time collaborators Tom Mason on bass and Eric Ford on drums.

With Janette at the helm, the original tunes’ irresistible melodic personalities are daringly expanded and reconfigured by the trio so that they delight the listener anew with the depth and sophistication of jazz while retaining the direct appeal of pop.

No-one is off limits and the repertoire draws from everyone from Gary Numan and David Bowie to Kate Bush and Olivia Rodrigo, with Janette’s fierce and inventive arrangements pulling everything together. Mixing deep grooves, gutsy swing, blazing solos and unforgettable melody, this is timeless music re-wired for the present day.

Quotes

Janette Mason is an extremely talented Jazz musician. Not only that, she plays keyboards in my band, Holy Holy. I have had the pleasure of hearing her latest album. She re-imagines Classic Rock songs by Bowie and Bush, the Golden Age of Standards by Rogers and Hart and other great melodies. Her latest oeuvre ReWired is gorgeous, relaxing and even challenging, but never a dull moment. Tony Visconti

“A band leader of pugnacious flair and genuine unpredictability.” James Griffiths-The Guardian
