SUMMARY:ReWired - Eastbourne
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Tom Mason and Eric Ford \n  \n“A band leader of pugnacious flair and genuine unpredictability.” James Griffiths-The Guardian \n  \n ReWired is the new acoustic trio project from acclaimed composer\, arranger and pianist\, Janette Mason. \nJanette Mason has a storied career playing for multiple artists across the worlds of jazz and pop. As a session player she’s toured with some of the biggest pop names in the business\, and as a bandleader she’s released a series of acclaimed jazz albums featuring some of the UK’s most respected players. \nFor her latest release\, ReWired\, she’s selected a basket full of all the tunes that mean the most to her\, from timeless standards to modern chart classics\, and reworked each of them with her long-time collaborators Tom Mason on bass and Eric Ford on drums. With Janette at the helm\, the original tunes’ irresistible melodic personalities are daringly expanded and reconfigured by the trio so that they delight the listener anew with the depth and sophistication of jazz while retaining the direct appeal of pop. \nNo-one is off limits and the repertoire draws from everyone from Gary Numan and David Bowie to Kate Bush and Olivia Rodrigo\, with Janette’s fierce and inventive arrangements pulling everything together. Mixing deep grooves\, gutsy swing\, blazing solos and unforgettable melody\, this is timeless music re-wired for the present day. \nJanette Mason – Piano\n  \nJanette Mason is a jazz pianist\, a composer for film and TV\, an arranger and producer of all genres from jazz to soul to pop\, and a dedicated and heartfelt musical communicator. Over the course of a thirty-year career she has quietly but emphatically made her presence felt\, delighting audiences with her skills in all kinds of settings\, from tiny jazz clubs to international film and TV projects. To those in the know she’s become a byword for artistic quality and emotional authenticity: her music embraces the complexity and challenge of modern jazz but always reaches out to the listener with its honesty and directness of expression\, and as a result she’s established a reputation that’s as revered by critics and her fellow musicians as it is by the listening public. \nWhether leading her own trio in jazz reworkings of pop classics\, playing sessions with Oasis\, Pulp\, or Seal\, working with legendary producer Tony Visconti\, scoring for film and TV\, or launching her latest project AYRA in collaboration with vocal legend Juliet Roberts\, Janette always stays true to her core  values – a commitment to musical excellence combined with a generous\, giving sensibility that reaches out to audiences and ensures that the message in the music is always there to be heard. \n  \nTom Mason – Bass\nTom gained a jazz degree while at the Royal Academy of Music\, and at New England Conservatory in Boston. Since then\, he has earned a reputation as one of the most versatile double bassists and bass guitarists on the UK music scene. \nHis résumé of recordings\, performances and tours boasts artists such as  Lizz Wright\, Mark Ronson and Jamie Cullum. Tom has also been long-term member of award-winning pianist Robert Mitchell’s Panacea. \n  \nEric Ford – Drums\nEric has been resident in London since late 2006\, after 4 years in Paris. He has played across the globe and on around 60 albums. He’s performed at iconic venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Royal Albert Hall\, and with musicians as diverse as Ronnie Laws\, Marc Almond\, Clare Teal\, the London Jazz Orchestra and Jason Rebello. \nHe’s also presented drum clinics in London and Beijing and has been a member of acclaimed contemporary jazz trio Partikel since 2009.

SUMMARY:Bowie Unplugged
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nBOWIE UNPLUGGED \nDavid McAlmont Vocals • Janette Mason Piano • Simon Little Bass \nJust over a decade ago\, David McAlmont got a transformative call from Janette Mason who invited him to fill some hefty shoes: Lea DeLaria\, Mason’s estimable\, long-time collaborator got the “once in a lifetime” call from Hollywood\, meaning that Wall to Wall Bowie\, the veteran arranger’s labour of Bowie love needed a new vocalist with as deep an affection for the material. McAlmont\, a late\, but enthusiastic Bowie developer\, seized the opportunity at a deeper exploration of the revered\, musical constellation. The decision forged a continuing adventure into the Bowie-verse. For the first time in their acclaimed stint since 2013\, they perform hitherto uncharted interpretations\, with new intimate arrangements for an intimate setting. McAlmont & Mason’s Bowie Unplugged\, an eleventh anniversary celebration\, lays bare the poetic\, chordal mission of the inalienable genius. \n  \n
